Job Description
Civic Renewables is seeking a Master Electrician to manage electrical aspects of solar installation projects in the VA, MD, and DC areas. Responsibilities include project management, electrical design, installation oversight, quality assurance, compliance, troubleshooting, training, and customer relations. Candidates should have a Master Electrician license and 5-8 years of experience in electrical installations, preferably in solar PV systems. This is a full-time position with limited travel.

Ipsun Solar, a subsidiary of Civic Renewables is a private equity-backed provider and we are looking to add an experienced and skilled Master Electrician to our growing team. The Master Electrician will be responsible for overseeing and managing the electrical aspects of our solar installation projects from inception through to completion. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and regulations, with a focus on ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality in all installations.
Position Location: VA, MD, DC areas (with travel to job sites)
Type: Full-time, Regular Shifts: Monday - Friday (limited night/weekend/on-call work)
Responsibilities
• Project Management: Lead and manage the electrical aspects of solar installation projects, including planning, scheduling, and coordination.
• Electrical Design: Collaborate with engineering and design teams to develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans for solar PV systems.
• Installation Oversight: Direct and supervise the installation of electrical systems, panels, and equipment according to industry standards and company guidelines.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections and tests to ensure the proper functioning and performance of electrical components and systems.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all electrical work complies with national, state, and local electrical codes, as well as safety regulations.
• Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve electrical issues during installation and provide ongoing support for maintenance and repairs.
• Training and Development: Mentor and train junior electricians and team members on best practices, safety protocols, and technical skills related to solar electrical systems.
• Customer Relations: Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Follow safety protocols and regulations to ensure a secure working environment.
• Collaborate with the team to achieve project deadlines and quality standards.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean workspace.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field preferred; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certifications: Valid Master Electrician license or certification required.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in electrical installations, with specific experience in solar PV systems highly preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PV syst), strong technical aptitude, and familiarity with electrical codes and regulations.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of managing projects and teams effectively.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a background check
