Job Description

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is seeking a Marketing Communications Intern to assist with content creation, brand awareness, and community engagement. Responsibilities include developing digital content, drafting articles, and collaborating with the communications team. Ideal candidates are undergraduate students in relevant fields with social media experience. The position offers a $17 hourly wage, up to 29 hours per week, and is eligible for telework.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:
• Developing content for digital newsletters, online magazines, social media, websites, print materials, and presentations
• Assisting with drafts of articles, media advisories, and news releases
• Collaborating closely with the Office of Communications team under the guidance of the marketing manager
• Supporting marketing and communications efforts to advance DNREC’s mission
• Maintaining responsibility, dependability, good communication skills, and a positive attitude
• Performing other related duties as required

About You

The company is looking for:
• An undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field
• Knowledge of social media content creation and platform management, including paid ads and boosted posts
• Experience writing copy and editorial content for marketing media
• Ability to gather, organize, format, interpret, and disseminate information via print, broadcast, or digital media
• Familiarity with trade shows or special events to promote products or services
• Knowledge of photography and/or videography
• Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked, cancelled, or disqualified)

Compensation & Benefits
• Hourly wage of $17.00
• Casual/Seasonal employment term, up to 29 hours per week from January to May 2026
• Telework eligible
• Non-pension eligible position without healthcare or other benefits
• Alternative Work Schedules available according to State of Delaware policy
