Job Description

New Logic Marine Science Camp is seeking a Marine Science Educator for mid-June to early September in Annapolis, MD. Responsibilities include leading lessons on marine conservation, managing support staff, and ensuring participant safety. A degree in marine sciences or related fields is required, along with First Aid and CPR certification. The position involves outdoor teaching, fostering a positive learning environment, and requires full-time availability during the program.

Availability
• Programs run from mid-June through early September.
• Required participation for the entire duration of the program, typically Monday-Friday, 9:00 am–2:00 pm.
• Applicants must be available until mid to late August.
• Note: We are unable to provide housing at this time.

Responsibilities
• Lead Scientists will schedule and lead engaging lessons, activities, and discussions focused on marine science and conservation.
• Directly manage our Support Staff and Interns as they work together to implement scheduled activities
• Lead Scientists are responsible for communicating directly with parents and guardians and relaying all relevant information back to administration.
• Foster a positive and supportive learning environment for program participants.
• Assist with the setup, maintenance, and organization of program materials and supplies.
• Work collaboratively with team members to deliver high-quality educational experiences.
• Adapt to varying outdoor settings and independently lead small groups when necessary.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of participants throughout the program.

Qualifications
• Passionate about conservation and our oceans
• A degree in marine sciences, biology, education, or a closely related field is required.
• First Aid and CPR certification is required upon hire.
• Previous experience in scientific fieldwork or teaching is preferred.
• Ability to lead and conduct program activities in an outdoor setting.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Our mission at New Logic Marine Science Camp is to ignite passion for marine science, conservation, and environmentalism in the next generation of scientists worldwide through our “hands-on, feet-wet” outdoor education model.

About New Logic Marine Science Camp:

We provide attendees with a mixture of dynamic hands-on activities that may include but not be limited to hands-on field sampling, interactive games, scientific demonstrations and experiments, dissections, and special guest presentations. A large component of our program is scientific field sampling and water quality testing. These activities enable attendees to obtain daily hands-on experience with marine life and observe variances in our natural world. Our award-winning general core curriculum is updated seasonally. We strive to incorporate all aspects of marine science into our curriculum. This includes topics such as biology, chemistry, engineering, geology, and conservation. Our various dissections also allow attendees to learn fun, interesting facts about our local marine life’s anatomy.
