Job Description

General Motors is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for an onsite role in Bowling Green, KY. The engineer will manage projects, supervise skilled employees, and ensure adherence to agreements with the United Auto Workers Union. Responsibilities include defining manufacturing processes, overseeing equipment design and installation, and providing technical direction. Candidates should be able to work independently and exercise judgment in a manufacturing environment.

On-site: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Bowling Green ASSY on a full-time basis.

The Role:

The career level Manufacturing Engineer able to work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision. Skilled in equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities necessary for the production of parts. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where creativity and initiative is exercised as well as independent judgment.

What You'll Do:
• Project management for tools, stations or specific technologies
• Supervising a group of Skilled hourly employees to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and processes.
• Consistently administer National and Local Agreement between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union.
• Utilize independent judgment within the limits of Global Manufacturing Systems, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE).
• Typically part of a larger effort or project:
• manufacturing process definition
• sequence of operations
• human factors consideration
• efficient material flow
• Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high quality parts
• Provide technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
• Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology
