Navigant Consulting is seeking a Managing Consultant for Impact Evaluation of Energy Efficiency Programs in McLean, VA. The role involves evaluating the effectiveness of energy efficiency initiatives, managing projects, leading teams, and conducting technical analyses. About the position

The Managing Consultant Impact Evaluation position at Guidehouse is designed for individuals with a strong background in evaluation, measurement, and verification (EM&V) specifically within the context of Energy Efficiency Programs. This role requires a deep understanding of how to assess the effectiveness of energy efficiency initiatives, particularly in the residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors. Candidates will be expected to leverage their expertise to evaluate the impacts of various energy efficiency measures, utilizing engineering analysis and field data collection to inform their assessments. In this position, you will manage projects and lead teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality impact evaluations. This includes assessing energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies through rigorous engineering analysis and energy modeling. You will analyze complex custom energy efficiency projects at commercial and industrial sites, reviewing engineering-based energy savings assumptions and providing guidance on evaluation methodologies. Your role will also involve performing detailed technical and economic analyses, managing project timelines and budgets, and ensuring adherence to quality standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening client relationships, mentoring junior team members, and collaborating with subcontractors. The position also offers opportunities for fieldwork, including performance measurement and data collection related to energy systems in buildings and industrial processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in energy efficiency and sustainability, along with excellent analytical and communication skills to effectively present findings to clients.

Responsibilities
• Managing projects and leading teams to deliver high quality impact evaluation

• Assessing energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies through engineering analysis, energy modeling, and field data collection
,
• Analyzing large and/or complex custom energy efficiency (electric and gas) projects at commercial and industrial sites
,
• Reviewing engineering-based energy savings assumptions and providing guidance on evaluation approaches
,
• Performing complex technical and economic analyses, spreadsheet creation, and project/task management
,
• Ensuring tasks are completed within project timelines and budgets and in adherence to quality standards
,
• Maintaining and strengthening existing client relationships
,
• Mentoring and training junior team members
,
• Collaborating and managing subcontractors
,
• Developing and presenting reports, memos, and presentations to deliver research findings to clients

Requirements
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering, environmental science, and/or related discipline
,
• Bachelor's degree AND 5+ years of relevant industry or consulting experience; Or Master's degree AND 3+ years of relevant industry or consulting experience
,
• Demonstrated work experience with evaluation, measurement, and verification (EM&V) in the utility space
,
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated attention to detail
,
• Ability to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines
,
• Strong interpersonal skills, including experience working with clients
,
• Experience developing and delivering presentations to clients or executive audiences
,
• Strong interest in energy efficiency and sustainability
,
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
,
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint
,
• Currently reside in the contiguous United States
,
• Ability to travel as needed
,
• Ability to work in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location 1-3x per week as needed

Nice-to-haves
• Preference will be given to candidates within reasonable driving distance of a listed core Guidehouse Office or Client Office
,
• Experience in analysis of energy savings or consumption (electric and gas) for common energy efficiency measures for residential, commercial, or industrial sectors
,
• Experience in conducting analysis of consumption, metering, AMI data
,
• Experience with building energy modeling, including experience with residential and commercial building simulation tools
,
• Experience with ASHRAE Level 1 Audits
,
• Experience in multiple sectors and multiple types of evaluation
,
• Field experience collecting primary data, such as energy usage data, equipment operation data, or equipment characteristics for the purposes of building energy audits or energy savings analyses
,
• Knowledge of and experience with technical reference manuals (TRMs)
,
• Experience implementing energy efficiency programs for commercial Energy Providers, Federal Civilian Agencies, or State & Local Governments
,
• Excellent at visualizing data, synthesizing insights, and storytelling with data
,
• Experience training and mentoring junior staff
