p Social network you want to login/join with: /p h3 Managing Consultant - Climate Change and Net Zero (Mid-Senior Level), Aberdeen /h3 h3 Client: /h3 p ERM /p h3 Location: /h3 p Aberdeen /p h3 Job Category: /h3 p Other /p h3 EU work permit required: /h3 p Yes /p h3 Job Reference: /h3 p 31fd97df2602 /p h3 Job Views: /h3 p 77 /p h3 Posted: /h3 p 18.02.2025 /p h3 Expiry Date: /h3 p 04.04.2025 /p h3 Job Description: /h3 p b Managing Consultant - Net Zero - Heavy Industry /b /p p b The Role /b /p p Due to significant growth in demand for our corporate GHG accounting, reporting and emissions reduction services, there is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join our climate change consultancy team, focussing on the heavy industry sector. /p p The successful candidate will join our multidisciplinary team, supporting ERM's client organisations on a range of challenges related to energy and climate change, including: /p ol li Accounting of greenhouse gas emissions (scopes 1, 2 and 3 emissions), including developing greenhouse gas inventories for heavy industry and hard to abate sectors aligned with industry best practice. /li li Identifying technological and strategic GHG reduction opportunities in company operations and the value chain and integrating these into strategic roadmaps for climate action. /li li Reporting climate performance in annual sustainability reports and CDP disclosures. /li li Embedding climate change within risk management frameworks and strategy planning and implementation. /li li Physical climate change and low carbon transition risk assessments, including alignment to the TCFD recommendations. /li li Helping engage and build governance capacity from the board, through executive management teams down to the shop floor'. /li /ol p Our role as consultant is to help our clients achieve their sustainable development objectives, and to manage their related business risks and opportunities effectively. /p p b Role and key responsibilities /b /p p As a Net Zero Managing Consultant at ERM, you will play a pivotal role in assisting organisations in their journey towards achieving net-zero emissions. You will provide strategic guidance, technical expertise and innovative solutions to help clients reduce their emissions and contribute to a more sustainable future. Projects typically extend across Net Zero strategy, GHG inventories and decarbonisation strategies, and for the right individual this offers the chance to act as a go-to advisor to ERM's key clients. What you can expect from the role: /p ol li Act as a project manager, acting as the focal point for our work with clients, particularly across corporate sectors. /li li Work in collaboration with a Partner in Charge, acting as the day-to-day contact and coordinator of our work, leading teams and delivering proposals and project deliverables to clients. /li li Lead the analysis of carbon emissions from multiple perspectives such as understanding carbon emissions impact, target setting (SBTI), using/applying various digital platforms, developing emissions reduction roadmap, preparing Net Zero strategies, and helping the client implement these within their organisation. /li li Support and ensure that the outputs enable our clients to meet assessment and disclosure needs. /li li Oversee the preparation of reports, workshop materials, presentations, and technical summaries, including managing project delivery of more junior members of staff. /li li Lead and support partners and teams to develop proposals, including for clients across a wide range of sectors. /li /ol p b CORE SKILLS /b /p p b Technical knowledge /b /p ol li Relevant technical degree or 5+ years' experience in environmental consulting / climate change / related industry position. /li li Specific sector experience in heavy industry would be an advantage, as would experience of high-impact/high complexity industries to bring a broader knowledge to the team. /li li Strong experience and detailed technical knowledge of GHG accounting and reporting principles, mechanisms, methodologies and schemes, e.g. GHG Protocol, SECR, SBTi, EEIO etc. /li li Able to proactively identify and suggest suitable methodologies to address client problems, and articulate why they are the preferred method both internally and to clients. /li li Good awareness of climate legislation and the drivers for our clients taking action. /li li Management systems knowledge. /li li MACC analysis / economic analysis of GHG/energy reductions. /li li Understanding links between energy and climate change. /li /ol p b Technical skills /b /p ol li Proficiency in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). /li li Strong Excel capabilities - advanced functionality and the ability to build complex tools, with the willingness and ability to further upskill. /li li Experience of data manipulation and visualisation tools in addition to Excel would be an advantage. /li li Experience of managing large projects and programmes. /li li Efficient and effective project planning (i.e. managing work and deliverables; resourcing and budgeting; delegating and managing a team). /li li Ability to manage/deliver multiple projects/tasks in parallel with different requirements and timelines. /li li Highly numerate and comfortable with large datasets including conversions and calculations. /li li Excellent written and oral presentation skills. /li li Excellent technical writing skills and ability to synthesise reports to a very high standard. /li /ol p b Characteristics and soft skills /b /p ol li Evidence of client exposure; good client communication skills, i.e. confident being in meetings without more senior consultants. /li li Mentoring / people management skills - demonstrates strong people management skills to achieve results. /li li Collaborates internally to bring our services to existing clients. /li li Bright and with clear passion/drive to be in this field. /li li Adaptable, committed and dependable team player. /li li Both logical and lateral thinking. /li li Problem solving - the ability to think something through and discuss possible solutions rather than just focusing on the problem. /li li Well organised. /li li Willing to learn and take on feedback. /li li Confident and reliable when working independently. /li li Approachable, responsive and inquisitive. /li li Takes pride in their work and delivers outputs to a high standard. /li li Proactive, self-motivated and generally enthusiastic. /li /ol p ERM cares about our people, their safety and career development as well as their well-being.
