Energeiaworks seeks a Manager of Transmission Planning - Generation Interconnection to optimize renewable energy project connections to the grid. Responsibilities include conducting grid integration studies, analyzing power quality, and developing power production models. The role requires a Bachelor's/Master's in electrical engineering and 5+ years in power systems engineering, particularly in renewable energy. The position allows for independent remote work.
Job Description As the Manager of Transmission Planning - Generation Interconnection, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing the interconnection of renewable energy projects to the grid and end users, specifically from an electrical perspective. You will provide the power system research, development and analysis required to integrate renewable technologies into the grid. Perform site-specific engineering analysis or the evaluation of energy efficiency and solar projects involving residential, commercial, or industrial customers.
Responsibilities: Perform detailed grid integration studies to assess the cost and impact of connecting renewable energy projects to the electrical grid. Analyze grid stability, power quality, and potential system limitations. Evaluate and identify optimal interconnection points for renewable energy projects, considering grid infrastructure, voltage levels, and grid capacity.
Utilize solar and wind resource data to estimate power production for different renewable energy projects. Develop accurate power production models and simulations. Create power pricing curves based on projected power production and local electricity market dynamics.
Analyze pricing trends and potential revenue streams. Recommend and design transmission system upgrades, including substation expansions, line reinforcements, and equipment installations to accommodate increased power capacity. Collaborate with resource assessment teams to analyze solar and wind data and optimize project placement for maximum energy yield.
Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national regulations pertaining to grid interconnection and power system planning for renewable energy projects. Perform power flow analysis and modeling to understand grid behavior under different operating conditions and contingencies. Evaluate the integration of energy storage solutions to enhance grid stability and maximize renewable energy utilization.
Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and project documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project development, and regulatory affairs, to ensure seamless project execution. Evaluate and Identify optimal interconnection points for renewable energy projects, considering grid infrastructure, voltage levels and grid capacity.
Review and support of transmission system upgrades, including substation expansions, line reinforcements and equipment installations to accommodate increased power capacity. Create power pricing curves based on projected power production and local electricity market dynamics. Analyze pricing trends and potential revenue streams.
Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in electrical or power engineering, professional engineering license preferred. 5+ years of power systems engineering experience in the renewable energy and solar industry. Proven experience in power system planning, renewable energy integration, or grid integrations studies.
Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerWorld and or PROMOD. Understanding the renewable energy markets and project lifecycles. Manage and support multiple projects simultaneously with varying complexities and urgencies presented day-to-day
Ability to work independently remotely with minimal supervision, multi-task, make decisions, prioritize, and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. Strong work ethic, a high degree of detail orientation, and an extreme sense of urgency Strong coordination/ organizational skills with attentiveness to timelines. Responsible, dependable, and possessing an exceptional work ethic.
Strong interpersonal skills - able to work effectively within a cross-functional team, entrepreneurial mindset, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting complex problem solving, and communication skills required. Proficiency with specialized computer programs and electronics. Experience in renewable energy and solar industry is required.
