Job Description

The Manager, Sustainability and Climate will support Newell Brands operational sustainability and climate strategies for the Newell Enterprise. The position will report directly to the Sr. Director of Sustainability and Climate, executing initiatives across all business units and regions.
Responsibilities:
• Lead data collection to support mandatory disclosure of non-financial ESG data across material topics and requirements in accordance with CSRD, California, and SEC climate regulations, excluding scope 1 and 2 data.
• Oversee software platform for data aggregation, risk management, and controls implementation.
• Supervise data collection and internal audit activities to complete annual Corporate Citizenship Report (CCR), excluding scope 1 and 2 data.
• Manage development of Newell's scope 3 footprint.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop resource optimization projects that support energy, water, and waste standards.
• Serve as the organization's operational and reporting sustainability subject matter expert, providing guidance and prioritization of programs aligning with Newell's sustainability targets and Carbon Neutral future.
• Provide leadership support on Newell Corporate Citizenship Council.
• Gather and report on sustainability industry initiatives, trends, and regulations.
• Research best practices and share regulatory updates impacting sustainability and environmental performance.
• Conduct assessments to benchmark Newell's sustainability programs against industry standards.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in operational sustainability or similar role in the consumer hard goods industry or consulting firm with extensive experience in operational sustainability projects across complex supply chains.
• Bachelor degree in engineering, environmental sciences, sustainability, or related subject area preferred.
• Passion for ESG, sustainability, and EHS, with excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of GRI, SASB, CDP, TCFD reporting frameworks and emerging global sustainability regulations.
• Experience preparing Sustainability reports and evaluation of on-site energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste diversion, and water conservation projects.
• Excellent grasp of sustainability concepts and ability to apply this knowledge to support sustainability projects.
• Familiarity with academic, government, and NGOs active in the sustainability arena.
• Proven ability to independently manage complex projects and brief senior leadership.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrates expertise in Microsoft Office suite applications and key performance indicator tracking tools for resource usage.
• Motivated team player with ability to multitask and travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
