The Hershey Company seeks a Manager for Sustainability Reporting & Planning, ideally located in Hershey, PA, though remote candidates are welcome. This role involves defining ESG reporting strategies, managing the annual ESG report, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Key responsibilities include stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and tracking sustainability goals. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in sustainability reporting and business partnering skills.
Location: Hershey, PA * Work Location*: Open to remote candidates but preference for local candidates. * Reports to*: Head of Sustainability & ESG with a dotted line to the ESG Controller (Finance) * Department*: Sustainability/Legal * Summary of Role*: The Hershey Company is seeking a talented Sustainability Reporting & Planning professional to join the growing Sustainability Team at the Hershey Company. Reporting to Head of Global Sustainability & ESG and working in close coordinating with the ESG Controller, the Manager, Sustainability Reporting & Planning will help define the enterprise ESG Reporting strategy through ownership of Hershey’s voluntary ESG reporting and disclosure processes. This role will ensure that our voluntary ESG disclosures are accurate, comprehensive, and aligned with industry standards while leveraging the insights to inform current and future strategy. The role will also support business integration through scorecarding, strategic planning, and the ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability reporting, data analysis, stakeholder engagement and possess strong business partnering skills to drive impact. * Role Responsibilities*: _ ESG Reporting_ * Support the ESG Controller and Head of Sustainability in defining Hershey’s voluntary reporting strategy (e.g., voluntary ESG Report, rater ranker response and customer inquiry response strategy), benchmarking best-in-class ESG voluntary reporting practices and staying informed of trends across the evolving ESG Reporting industry. * Provide day-to-day management of the Company’s voluntary annual ESG Report with oversight by the ESG Controller, working with cross-functional partners and external agencies to collect data, draft the report, solicit internal feedback and reviews, and project manage the report from inception to completion. * Serve as the Administrator and point of contact for Hershey’s ESG Report in Workiva. * Prepare additional applicable reports for rater rankers or customer inquiries as aligned with the company’s voluntary reporting strategy (e.g. GRI, SASB, CDP etc.) * Help manage Hershey’s external relationships with key ESG rating agencies including reviewing and providing up to date data and disclosures (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics, etc.) * Support the ESG Communications Lead to collect and curate ESG content recommendations for the enterprise Sustainability website page and associated external communication channels to elevate ESG headlines using various media channels (e.g., blog posts, press releases, website content, social media, etc). _ Planning & Strategy_ * Review results from materiality assessments, peer trends, and benchmarking to inform current and future sustainability strategy * Regularly review and support progress tracking of sustainability goals and programs using relevant metrics * Support development of scorecards and planning documents for internal reporting and performance management in order to drive business ownership and execution over key parts of the sustainability agenda * Support development of reports that communicate company performance to investors, customers, employees, and key leaders within Hershey * Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities*: * Experience with and knowledge of various ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, UNGPRF, etc), and/or investor-preferred evaluations (e.g., Sustainalytics, MSCI, CDP, etc.) * Strong project management skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines. * Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to engage and influence stakeholders without direct authority as a collaborative business partner * Influential communication and presentation skills, with ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences at varying levels of the organization * Eagerness to learn and innovate processes to drive efficiencies in a rapidly evolving ESG landscape * High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint * Experience with Workiva (ESG or SEC Reporting) a plus * Minimum Education and Experience Requirements*: * Analysis and Decision Making o Systematically gathers information from a variety of sources, analyzes information, identifies implications of data, draws appropriate conclusions, generates viable alternative solutions to a question or problem, and evaluates the consequences of choosing each alternative. This includes recognizing when a problem exists and taking proactive steps to resolve the problem. * Managing Multiple Priorities o Sets priorities, plans, and coordinates work activities to maximize productivity. Remains focused on the priorities for the day and avoids being sidetracked by less important tasks and activities. Develops plans with long-range horizons based upon sound knowledge of the needs of the organization, function, and/or client/ customers. Anticipates obstacles and develops contingency plans for their use in the event a plan becomes unworkable. Prioritizes objectives to enable the selection allocation of attention and resources. * Interpersonal Relations o Establishes and maintains constructive and effective relationships built upon trust. Uses diplomacy and tact to diffuse even high-tension situations. Works to find common ground and mutually beneficial solutions to conflicts. Relates well to all kinds of people, up, down and sideways, inside and outside the organization. Can represent his/her own interest and yet be fair to other groups. Viewed by others as a team player. * Dependability o Takes ownership of work and ensures it is completed accurately (strong attention to detail), efficiently and on time. Works with a sense of urgency, enthusiasm, commitment and persistence in the face of obstacles or adversity. This includes being reliable, trust and accountable for completing work activities; rejecting excuses for failure; following the organization’s rules and expectations; complying with all laws and regulations; and maintaining focus on productivity and bottom-line results. * US Compensation Regulations and Laws o Monitors federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations in order to ensure company compliance.
