Job Description
The Indianapolis Airport Authority is seeking a Manager, Environment to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and policies. Responsibilities include managing storm water and deicing systems, overseeing staff, and maintaining knowledge of environmental best practices. The role requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and extensive environmental experience, with strong leadership skills. The position is primarily office-based, with some exposure to outdoor conditions.
Job Title: Manager, Environment
The Manager, Environment will primarily be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental and conservation regulations and standards, and to assist the Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) in meeting and exceeding its environmental policies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage IAA's storm water and deicing control systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Perform and maintain working knowledge of operating, maintenance activities, and environmental best practices relevant to IAA's storm water deicing control facilities.
• Provide oversight and direction to direct reports, coach, counsel, mentor, and develop direct reports, including oversight of performance reviews and providing career development planning and opportunities.
• Accommodate IAA's development for cost-effective operations to minimize any environmental impact on all IAA airports.
• Perform activities associated with environmental regulatory compliance by IAA, including permit application and implementation.
• Assist Director, Environmental and Sustainability with Properties and retail divisions to ensure environmental compliance and adherence to IAA environmental policies at all properties and by all tenants.
• Stay abreast of local, state, and federal environmental and related guidelines, policies, regulations, legislation, and funding revisions and opportunities, and work within IAA to address any new/revised requirements and opportunities.
• Communicate impacts and opportunities to airport officials and assist in developing and implementing appropriate strategies.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in environment management, environmental science, or a related field.
• Ten to twelve years of environmental experience within the public and private sectors.
• Strong leadership skills with minimum two to three years of experience managing direct reports.
• Ability to provide strategic focus and establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, tenants, government officials, airport officials, and fellow employees.
• Knowledge of applicable permits and regulations required for airport operations.
Working Conditions:
• This position is performed within an office environment at least 80% of the time.
• The other 20% the employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
• With multiple worksites, the noise level varies from the office environment and the outside environment.
