Job Description
The Manager, District Forest and Fire Planning at the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is responsible for creating tactical plans for forest and fire management, leading a team of experts. This ongoing position is based in Murrindindi VIC, Australia, with hybrid work arrangements available. Candidates should have knowledge of tactical planning and relevant experience, with applications closing on 13 March 2025.
The Manager, District Forest and Fire Planning is responsible for delivering tactical (in-year) plans for forest and fire management works. Leading a team of planning experts, the Manager will ensure that tactical plans, including burn plans, site plans and works orders, meet all required standards. The Manager will also work with the District Manager to ensure local knowledge and priorities are communicated to inform the operational planning processes, ensuring that the district's priorities are appropriately represented within the Joint Fuel Management Program, Operational Forest Management Program and other 1-5 year planning and strategic planning processes.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
• Knowledge of tactical planning of forest and fuel management programs/services, with experience working with planning systems including FMS, eMAP and ArcGIS (or similar)
• Tertiary qualifications in natural resource or environmental management, or public policy (desirable)
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within the Murrindindi District with hybrid work arrangements available.
