Description
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing plant mechanical equipment. Ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. The Technician will work an 8-hour shift schedule, 5 days a week and share a rotating weekly after hours on call shift. They may also be utilized in the material handling grain departments and other departments as needed.
This position requires a great deal of flexibility and the ability to adapt to change.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Maintains the plant maintenance program
• Monitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
• Responsible for maintaining all aspects of the plant and associated equipment. Also responsible for keeping the maintenance shop and plant in a neat and organized manner.
• Help with computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
• Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving plant operations or solving maintenance-related problems.
• Have a good working knowledge of pump, valves, centrifuges, conveyors, rolling stock, and grain handling equipment.
• Monitor and repair plant pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Participate with plant safety programs: lock out tag out and confined space entry. Initiate and implement the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the ethanol industry, with an emphasis on preventative and predictive maintenance.
• Monitor’s operation of plant equipment and systems
• Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
• Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.
• Coordinate activities with other departments
• Communicate directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.
• Communicate directly with QA laboratory to ensure effective participation by maintenance technicians in the implementation of QA policies and procedures.

• Heavy equipment experience, lift truck, wheel loader, & man lift.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a two-year degree from a technical/vocational school, military background or 3 years’ work experience in a technical or related field.
• Must have the ability to work effectively with computerized maintenance management system and instruct others on its operation.
• Maintenance background that includes welding, electrical and mechanical trouble shooting.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must have proficiency with basic office software.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to working near moving mechanical parts.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions; must be able to climb ladders and work in high, precarious places; and in all outdoor weather conditions.
• The employee may be occasionally exposed to high noise environments.
• Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
