MR Truck Driver

Goterra is seeking an MR Truck Driver based in Hume, ACT, Australia. The role involves collecting and transporting organic waste between sites in Canberra and regional NSW. Candidates should have a full MR license and experience in truck driving. Duties include vehicle maintenance, loading/unloading waste, and planning transport operations. Goterra is a Canberra based envirotech startup company that designs and builds modular infrastructure to process food waste using insects. The MR Truck Driver is a reliable hard-working professional and a key member of the Facilities team, responsible for the collection and transport of goods between Goterra's sites.

We are looking for experienced Truck Drivers to join our Facilities Team, to support the collection and transport of organic (food) waste from client sites in the ACT and regional NSW to our base in Hume, Canberra. Hours vary depending on need of the business but mostly within 7am-7pm. Occasional overnight hauls as per need of business.

Duties include but are not limited to:
• Driving trucks of various size up to 12 tonnes
• Travelling to locations in Canberra and interstate to deliver bio material and collect organic products various sites and returning to Canberra plant
• Planning transport operations (route, delivery schedule)
• Checking the vehicle is in good, safe working order before departure
• Loading and unloading bins containing food waste on and off the truck using mechanical handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks)
• Checking and securing the load
• Preparing transport documentation
• Checking fuel and oil levels, oil filters and tyres
• Cleaning, washing, refuelling and ordinary maintenance of vehicle
• Emptying and cleaning waste containers (eg pallet bins)
• Abide by Goterra’s mission, values, and tenets
• Undertaking any other reasonable duties which fall within the remit of this role

Qualifications/ Certificates/ Licenses:
• Full clean MR or higher Drivers Licence
• Forklift licence highly desirable

Experience:
• Proven working experience in a commercial Truck Driver role
• Materials Handling experience highly desirable

Skills & knowledge:
• The ability to drive safely, and a thorough understanding of and adherence to the regulations set out in the rules of the road for the ACT & NSW
• High levels of concentration and rapid reflexes
• A strong sense of orientation
• Problem-solving skills (e.g. dealing with accidents and unforeseen issues)
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Patience, flexibility, and resilience
• The ability to meet the physical requirements of the role (e.g. some lifting up to 20kgs may be required)
• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Digital literacy skills - a mobile phone is required to communicate with the team and for task management through the applications Slack and Asana
• Own reliable transport to and from work base in Hume, Canberra
