Care.com is seeking a Managing Director for Climate Solutions Accelerator and AVP of Climate Justice. This remote position requires a senior climate strategist with at least 15 years of experience to lead CARE's climate initiatives, oversee the Climate Justice team, and develop a Climate Growth Strategy. The role involves external representation, fostering collaboration, inspiring investment, and enhancing CARE's climate portfolio through innovative fundraising and partnerships.
About the position
CARE is seeking a senior global Climate strategist to lead and represent a growing practice area with vision, creativity, and commitment. The successful candidate will possess global climate expertise and credibility, with demonstrated experience working across sectors and geographies. This role is critical in shaping CARE's response to climate change, leveraging the organization's extensive network and deep understanding of the strategies that nonprofits and civil society networks can employ to mitigate climate impacts. The position is part of the Program Strategy & Innovation (PSI) team, reporting directly to the Senior Leader of the ‘Impact Hub’ and collaborating closely with the Vice President of PSI. The candidate will oversee the Climate Justice team and work with various technical teams, fundraising teams, and country offices to drive CARE's climate vision forward. The role involves serving as a credible climate leader for CARE's external representation, particularly in areas where the organization is currently underrepresented. The candidate will combine their climate expertise with CARE's network to inspire investment and grow the climate portfolio by attracting new funders and offerings. The position requires advancing technical and thought leadership in climate change, focusing on the intersections of climate justice, gender, health, and education. The candidate will lead the CARE Climate Solutions Accelerator (CCSA), expanding CARE's presence in new networks and spaces, particularly among foundations, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals. Additionally, the candidate will design a Climate Growth Strategy for CARE, identifying key opportunities for portfolio growth and integrating across donor streams to maximize impact. They will support resource mobilization efforts by developing relationships with new donors and creating innovative fundraising products. The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of experience in climate change roles, a proven track record in influencing climate change policy, and advanced skills in public speaking and writing for donor audiences.

• Expand CARE's presence in networks and spaces not currently covered.

• Pitch CARE as a climate leader and innovator to potential donors.

• Design a Climate Growth Strategy for CARE in partnership with relevant teams.

• Identify key opportunities for growing the climate portfolio based on CARE's expertise.

• Support Resource Mobilization colleagues in pitching fundraising products.
Requirements
• At least 15 years of experience in an external-facing climate change role with verifiable results.

• Proven expertise and track record in climate change influencing, including publications and media appearances.
,
• Technical credibility in climate change spaces and networks.
,
• Ability to build and act in networks of climate change experts and philanthropists.
,
• Deep respect for collaboration across different actors, particularly locally-led organizations.
,
• Demonstrable knowledge of climate change funding and adaptation actions.
,
• Success in building relations with high-level climate donors and networks.
,
• Acute understanding of gender equality issues in climate change.
,
• Advanced editorial and writing skills for donor audiences.
,
• Advanced and confident oral presentation and public speaking skills.

• Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent.

• Experience working with an INGO.
