About the position
As a Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) Engineer at MillerKnoll, you will play a crucial role in supporting the business objectives of product carbon accounting through the application of lifecycle assessment principles and techniques. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about environmental sustainability and have a foundational understanding of LCA methodologies. Under the direct supervision of senior LCA specialists, you will assist in conducting comprehensive lifecycle assessments to evaluate the environmental impacts of products, processes, and services throughout their lifecycles. Your work will involve gathering, organizing, and analyzing data related to materials, energy consumption, emissions, and other environmental factors to ensure data accuracy and consistency. You will learn to use LCA software tools such as SimaPro, GaBi, or OpenLCA to model and analyze life cycle impacts, maintaining proficiency in these tools as you progress. Additionally, you will help prepare LCA reports and presentations, including data visualizations, to effectively communicate findings to internal stakeholders. Your contributions will extend to various sustainability projects and initiatives, providing LCA-related insights and data analysis to support the company's sustainability goals. In this role, you will also assist in ensuring that LCA practices comply with relevant standards, such as ISO 14040/44, and stay informed about updates in LCA methodologies. Continuous learning is encouraged, and you will have opportunities to participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance your understanding of LCA methodologies, tools, and best practices. This position emphasizes teamwork, planning, and achieving results on assigned projects, while also allowing you to apply your originality and ingenuity to solve basic technical issues. You will be expected to take good notes, show your work and assumptions, and seek mentoring from senior sustainability leadership as you develop your skills in this field.
Responsibilities
• Support senior LCA specialists in performing comprehensive LCA studies to evaluate the environmental impacts of products, processes, and services throughout their lifecycles.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, sustainability, chemical or material science, product engineering, or relevant environmental discipline or a related field.

• 0-2 years of professional engineering experience; Recent graduates with relevant coursework are encouraged to apply.

• Some experience or internship in conducting lifecycle assessments is preferred but not required.

• Basic understanding of LCA software (SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA, etc.).

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Familiarity with LCA methodologies, ISO 14040/44 standards, and environmental impact assessment.

• A genuine interest in sustainability and a commitment to driving positive environmental change.

• Exposure to project management concepts may be essential for some assignments.
