Job Description
The International Society for Industrial Ecology is hiring a Life Cycle Assessment Specialist in Kelowna, BC, Canada. The role involves conducting life cycle assessments and technoeconomic evaluations of barley malting processes, working with industry partners to assess GHG emissions and efficiency measures. Candidates should have interdisciplinary graduate studies in sustainability and expertise in life cycle assessment and optimization techniques. This is a full-time position.
Job Overview:
International Society for Industrial Ecology is seeking a highly skilled individual to conduct life cycle assessments, technoeconomic evaluations, and optimization of barley malting processes in Canada. This position involves working with industry partners to assess baseline GHG emissions and mitigation potential of efficiency measures and alternative strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Benchmark energy and water use at each step of the malting process
- Evaluate the efficiency of different malt processing systems currently employed or available for commercial production
- Collect data directly from participating facilities or use process simulation modelling based on technical specifications
- Integrate data with baseline barley production life cycle inventory models to assess impacts of modified malt processing protocols
