Job Description
The Circular Action Alliance is seeking a Life-Cycle Analysis (LCA) Data Analyst to manage LCA programs and analyze datasets related to state Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws. The role involves supporting LCA report processes, conducting LCA modeling, and interfacing with various teams to enhance recycling systems. This position is remote and aims to drive innovation in recycling and waste management for producers in compliance with new environmental regulations.
Background
Circular Action Alliance (CAA), a 501(c)3, became the first U.S. Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) for paper and packaging in 2022, and in less than a year was selected by California, Colorado, and Oregon to represent producers and meet the requirements of their extended producer responsibility (EPR) laws. The organization is poised to deliver best-in-class compliance services, scale innovation, and build systems that help both companies and consumers waste less and recycle more in these states, and in other states that have passed or will pass EPR laws in the future.
Working with CAA presents an opportunity to be on the front edge of recycling system innovations that will have a meaningful and lasting impact. As a member of the CAA team, you will support the organization's work with our 20 Founding Members who are leaders in the food, beverage, consumer goods, and retail industries; companies ("producers") whose packaging will be managed under these new laws; and a diverse array of stakeholders whose collaboration will be critical to creating a circular economy for paper and packaging. We are looking for passionate, mission-driven, big thinkers to help us realize the full potential of the nation's first EPR laws.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Data and Analytics, the LCA Data Analyst will support the organization with the administration of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) programs and data analysis of their datasets across state EPR programs that have LCA requirements. The focus of some current state EPR programs is to utilize LCA to calculate reductions in environmental impacts realized through packaging choices made by producers. The successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise on the development of emerging LCA programs including reporting requirements and eco modulation applications. They will also manage the intake and review processes of LCA datasets and project reports submitted by producers as part mandatory disclosures and eco modulation applications in the Oregon program. They will also conduct LCA modeling relating to the management of covered products using popular LCA software and datasets, as well as perform analysis of LCA reports generated by external entities. This role will be responsible for interfacing with state teams as well as national teams working on materials management and producer services.
Primary Responsibilities
