The Legal Counsel - Regulatory Affairs & Sustainability role at ITW provides essential legal support to various segments and corporate functions, focusing on regulatory matters. This position involves monitoring and advising on legal and regulatory issues that impact the company's operations and products, ensuring compliance with existing and emerging laws, particularly in Environmental Impact, Product Stewardship, and Sustainability. The role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to manage regulatory risks effectively and provide strategic guidance on engaging with governmental agencies.
Responsibilities
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and analyze proposed legislation impacting the business.

• Provide ongoing legal support to ITW businesses to ensure compliance with emerging and existing laws and regulations.

• Manage external resources, such as law firms and lobbyists, to address regulatory risks cost-effectively.

• Provide strategic thought leadership and tactical support for engaging with governmental and regulatory agencies.

• Lead special projects and conduct relevant legal research for the department.
Requirements
• JD is required.

• 7+ years of experience interpreting and providing actionable direction on regulatory matters is required.

• Expertise in Environmental Impact, Product Stewardship, and Sustainability compliance is strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated attention to detail while maintaining a big picture perspective.

• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with global stakeholders.
