Job Description

The University of California, Merced is hiring lecturers for Natural Sciences courses for Summer 2025, including topics like Ecology and Sustainability Science. Responsibilities include teaching, evaluating student work, and holding office hours. This is a limited-term position, with applications reviewed starting March 22, 2025. The job is located in Merced, CA and offers both full-time and part-time opportunities.
The School of Natural Sciences anticipates hiring full and part-time lecturer positions to teach the following subjects in Summer 2025:

Evolution

Fundamentals of Ecology

Intro to Earth System Science

Sustainability Science

Weather, Climate, and the Environment

Other courses as needed

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor will be evaluating student work and exams, calculating and posting grades, and holding regular posted office hours each week.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Summer Session A Dates: 5/27/2025-7/3/2025

Summer Session B Dates: 6/23/2025 – 8/15/2025

Summer Session C Dates: 7/7/2025 – 8/15/2025

Summer Session D Dates: 5/27/2025 - 8/15/2025
