TAFE WA North Metropolitan seeks a Lecturer (Skills for Study) in Perth, Australia, for a 24-month appointment pool. The role involves teaching literacy and numeracy to vocational training students, requiring at least five years of related experience. About the role
We are currently seeking candidates with experience and expertise in Skills for Study to provide concurrent LLND support to students enrolled in vocational training predominantly using a team-teaching approach.
Skills for Study teachers must be experienced, specialist teachers of literacy, digital literacy and numeracy with a substantial proven record of successful teaching, preferably with adults. They must have at least five years' experience teaching literacy and/or numeracy to groups of learners.
North Metropolitan TAFE will provide ongoing support to build and enhance your teaching and learning capabilities to plan, develop and deliver training and assessment to students in this study area.
The lecturer’s primary role is to teach, facilitate learning, assess and mentor students in accordance with relevant curriculum and/or training package requirements. Lecturers also undertake Professional Activities and Activities Related to Delivery. In order to maintain quality educational services, lecturers are required to keep abreast of technological and other developments in their field through professional development to provide up-to-date information and advice to the College and industry, where appropriate.
Relevant Qualification and Experience To be eligible for employment you must hold qualifications in an appropriate qualification for a specialist adult language, literacy and numeracy teacher is a post-graduate teaching qualification with one of the following specialisations: adult literacy/numeracy teaching, primary school teaching, secondary school teaching (English, maths, science or special education) or a graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice (TAE80113).
NM TAFE prefers lecturers to hold the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116, or TAE40110 and the additional skill sets referred to in Schedule 1, Item 2 of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015. You are still eligible to apply if you do not yet hold these credentials but we may require you to obtain the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 prior to appointment, irrespective of holding other adult education qualifications.
NM TAFE prefers lecturers to hold the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40122 and the additional skill sets referred to in Schedule 1, Item 2 of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015. Applicants who do not yet hold the minimum required VET credentials are still eligible to apply, however NM TAFE will require the successful candidate to be enrolled, and have commenced training in, an approved training and assessment credential (Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or Diploma from the TAE Training Package), and record satisfactory progress to enable the credential to be completed within two years from commencement.

If you are successful, during the life of the pool you may be offered appointment to similar & subsequent vacancies within the College, within other TAFE Colleges or across WA Government (subject to your permission being granted).
Eligibility for employment is subject to you obtaining a satisfactory Department of Education Criminal Clearance and, if this position involves contact with children, a Working with Children (WWC) Card.
To be eligible for appointment you must have a working visa (for fixed term contract appointments) or permanent residency (for permanent appointments).
