Job Overview
The Idaho Conservation Corps (ICC) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Crew Leader to manage and supervise conservation crews composed of young adults aged 19 and older. This seasonal position, which takes place over an 8-week session, involves guiding crews in completing essential hands-on conservation projects while offering structured camp experiences that include outdoor education and communal meals. This role not only provides a significant educational experience for participants but also serves as a gateway into professions related to natural resource management and outdoor education.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee conservation crews in daily project implementations, ensuring safety and productivity.
• Maintain high morale within the crew and effectively resolve conflicts as they arise.
• Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of all program participants, prioritizing safety in all activities.
• Act as the primary liaison between project sponsors and local community members, fostering collaborative relationships.
• Deliver educational sessions based on NYC’s established curriculum, focusing on environmental education and skill development.
Required Skills
• Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities, with an emphasis on fostering teamwork.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
• Physical ability to lift and/or move loads up to 70 pounds and carry a backpack for up to 12 miles.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills, especially in challenging environments.
• Experience or desire to work with diverse populations, promoting inclusivity in all activities.
Qualifications
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Current certification in Wilderness First Aid (or higher) and CPR.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record over the past three years.
• Relevant outdoor experience, whether recreational or professional.
