About the position

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a self-motivated Lead/Senior/Principal Level Environmental Planner specializing in NEPA. This role involves overseeing environmental impact analyses, facilitating outreach, and ensuring quality in the development of Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs). The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members across various offices. Candidates can work from Albuquerque, NM, Durango, CO, or in a hybrid/remote arrangement.

Responsibilities
• Manage and lead the preparation of EAs and EISs for various projects.

• Support business line growth objectives in areas such as land use planning and renewable energy.

• Provide technical oversight for NEPA documents and processes.

• Demonstrate leadership and professionalism at project and team levels.

• Supervise and mentor early and mid-career staff in NEPA analysis and document preparation.

• Contribute to business development pursuits and proposals.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, environmental science, or a related field.

• Minimum of eight years of NEPA document preparation and environmental consulting experience.

• Management experience on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.

• Strong understanding of federal and state environmental regulations including NEPA and FLPMA.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves
• Master's degree in environmental planning or a related field.

• Ten years of NEPA document preparation experience.
