Job Description

Lucid Motors is seeking a Lead Research Scientist in Product Sustainability to develop carbon emissions forecasting models, manage environmental databases, and conduct Life Cycle Cost Assessments. Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant field and at least 3 years of experience in sustainability. Proficiency in tools like GaBi and SQL is required. This position is full-time and based in Newark, CA.

The Role
• Develop, maintain, and improve Lucid’s carbon emissions forecasting models
• Create and manage complex environmental databases and actionable sustainability dashboards
• Generates the Lucid’s yearly greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory.
• Perform Life Cycle Cost Assessments (LCA) and carbon accounting
• Design and carry out research with attention to detail, collect/organize/report results and carry out subsequent studies to further the progress of the program.
• Write sustainability specifications, design standards, and healthy materials performance requirements in close collaboration with design teams.
• Work with product, commercial and marketing teams to define technical goals that will support the company to meet business objectives.Qualifications
• PhD degree in environmental science, civil engineering, Mechanical engineering or related STEM field.
• 3+ years of research or industry experience working with carbon accounting, GHG inventories, LCA, circular economy, and/or sustainability consulting
• Proficient in GaBi, SimaPro, and/or OpenLCA
• Proficiency in Excel (VBA), SQL, Tableau/PowerBI and familiarity with python programming language.
• Professional credentials such as the Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional (LCA CP) preferred
• Proven track record of publications in the transportation sustainability is a plus
• Excellent communication, written and presentation skills.
