Job Description
APTIM is seeking a Lead Project Manager for high-visibility decontamination and decommissioning projects in Fort Greely, AK. The role involves leading a multi-disciplinary team, managing project objectives, and ensuring compliance with contract terms. Responsibilities include project planning, performance management, and client interaction. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 10+ years of project management experience in large-scale D&D projects. This is a full-time position with a travel assignment package.

We are seeking a Lead Project Manager to help lead high-visibility decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) projects across the U.S., ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective execution of some of the nation's most complex environmental cleanup efforts. The Project Manager will be responsible for the effective management of work activities to achieve project objectives in compliance with contract terms and conditions. As a Project Manager, you will:
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team across engineering, field operations, and safety disciplines
• Develop and execute detailed project plans aligned with the contract SOW
• Establish project baselines (scope, budget, schedule) and manage performance to plan
This is a high-impact leadership role supporting federally funded projects that are critical to public safety, national defense, and long-term reduction of environmental liabilities. Opportunities for advancement are available for candidates who demonstrate exceptional leadership and delivery.
Location: Fort Greely, Alaska (Travel Assignment Package Included)
Duration: Up to 36 months
Schedule: Full-time (5x10's)
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
• Developing and maintaining a project organization (resource identification, utilization, & allocation) encompassing all disciplines required to execute and deliver the contract SOW.
• Oversee and direct all aspects of project management (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and project closeout) for the project
• Lead interaction as primary point of contact with the client
• Assure effective implementation of the Earned Value Management System, as well as risk management and planning
• Track project progress against baseline schedules and budgets; resolve discrepancies and negative trends as early as feasible
• Overall coordination of initial work planning/scoping working with operations and engineering to develop a resource loaded schedule and cost estimate
• Primary interface with operations and project planners/schedulers
• Supervises daily activities of project personnel including technical and administrative support and ensures that deliverables are produced on schedule and within budget.
• Establishes and monitors project safety and quality programs.
• Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls projects in accordance with the established company policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.
• Proactively resolve issues with the customer
• Preparation of Financial Reports including Progress Reports (internal and client required)
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related technical field
• 10+ years of project management experience on large-scale decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) nuclear/environmental projects
• Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary teams
• Working knowledge of EVMS, baseline management, and QA/QC principles
Preferred Qualifications:
• PMP Certification
• Experience with DOE or USACE projects
• Proficiency with Primavera P6 and EM 385-1-1
