Job Description
The Lead ESG & Climate Advisor at Nasdaq is responsible for guiding clients in developing and implementing effective ESG strategies, managing client relationships, and leading engagement teams. About the position
The Lead ESG & Climate Advisor position at Nasdaq is a pivotal role within our ESG Advisory practice, which is dedicated to helping companies navigate the complexities of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programs. This practice is designed to assist organizations in analyzing, assessing, and implementing effective ESG strategies that not only attract long-term capital but also enhance overall value creation. The role involves engaging with clients to build comprehensive ESG and climate programs, providing oversight and disclosure advice, and guiding them through the intricacies of ratings agencies. Additionally, the advisor will support clients in setting greenhouse gas (GHG) targets and adopting various frameworks such as ISSB, GRI, TCFD, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our practice operates on a global scale, catering to companies across diverse sectors and market capitalizations. As a Lead ESG & Climate Advisor, you will be responsible for leading client engagement teams and managing client relationships effectively. Your expertise will be crucial in advising clients on GHG footprinting projects and developing decarbonization strategies, including the establishment of science-based targets and conducting TCFD workshops. You will deliver complex climate change support and analytical projects tailored to different markets, demonstrating advanced knowledge of both the client’s industry and ESG principles. Furthermore, you will own the strategic year-in-review assessments for all client engagements, ensuring that our clients receive comprehensive insights into their ESG performance. Building productive and collaborative relationships with team members is essential, as you will be conducting and leading research in both quantitative and qualitative formats. This includes synthesizing complex data into meaningful insights that can drive decision-making and strategy development for our clients. The role requires a proactive approach to managing multiple projects independently, with minimal supervision, to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
Responsibilities

• Advise clients on GHG footprinting projects and decarbonization strategy development, including setting science-based targets and conducting TCFD workshops.

• Deliver complex climate change support and analytical projects across different markets.

• Demonstrate advanced client industry knowledge and ESG expertise.

• Own strategic year-in-review assessments for all client engagements.

• Build productive and collaborative relationships with team members.

• Conduct and lead research in both quantitative and qualitative formats, synthesizing complex data into meaningful insights.
Requirements
• 5+ years' experience in corporate GHG emissions accounting across multiple sectors, acquired either in-house or in a consultancy environment.
,
• Proficiency in calculating and reporting scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, with demonstrated experience in key topic areas, including setting inventory boundaries, accounting for renewable energy, and accounting for supply chain emissions using multiple approaches (EEIO, LCA, supplier-specific data).
,
• Demonstrated experience in conducting GHG inventories with organizations across multiple sectors (retail, manufacturing, financial, energy, etc.).
,
• Experience developing Science Based Targets and decarbonization strategies.
,
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently with minimal supervision to meet tight deadlines.

• Understanding of Life Cycle Assessments and Product Carbon Footprints.
,
• Familiarity with carbon accounting and reporting standards and programs (e.g., ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, TCR).
,
• Experience with third-party audits of inventories, and with auditors/assurance providers.
,
• Experience with ESG and climate program building strategy, oversight and disclosure advice, ratings agencies guidance, frameworks adoption (SASB, GRI, TCFD, UN SDGs), and ESG investor engagement strategy.
