JOB SUMMARY


Advanced Control Room Operator who Monitors and operates controls in the centralized control room of the Power Plant to control the loading and operation of generating units and associated equipment. Observes operating parameters of equipment and assures that optimum operating conditions are maintained.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Responsibilities are varied and complex. Often works outside area of assigned duties. Applies advanced skills in multiple areas. Resolves complex issues which impact business operations both inside and outside own department. Makes unreviewed decisions related to the area of responsibilities. Opinions carry significant weight in policy and strategy decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


• Contributes to data collection and potential solutions.

• Provides expert feedback and is an active participant in the RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) process.

• Monitors, operates and checks equipment.

• Provides feedback as needed for changes to the welding quality assurance manual.

• Directs activities of contractors and vendors, as needed.

• Acts as subject matter expert and coaches and mentors less experienced members in their training and development.

• Evaluates project progress and manpower performance (internal and external) and reports to supervisor and/or project manager.

• Provides technical management for Operations projects.

• Primary duty to operate the plant from the Control Room and may also operate the Auxiliaries, as needed, without supervision.

• Acts as a lead and fills in as Acting Supervisor, as needed.

• Acts as Operating Authority, as required.

• All other duties as assigned.

• Performs general craft tasks, operates various industrial equipment, and uses power hand tools.

• Repairs, inspects and maintains boiler and boiler auxiliaries, turbine/generator auxiliaries, also fuel supply equipment and auxiliaries, if applicable.

• Works with other craft and plant personnel as required.

• Reads and interprets drawings and prints.

• Utilizes SAP/PM system for equipment history and verification of work performed.

• Keeps logs, records data and verbally communicates plant conditions.

• Follows all safety and environmental rules and regulations.

• Creates templates and executes clearance procedures.

• Identifies abnormal equipment operations.

• Assists in the training and mentoring of less experienced team members.

• Monitors, analyzes and performs boiler and cooling water chemistry tests.

• Takes corrective action and/or initiates requests for equipment repair.
REQUIREMENTS

• Associate's degree in a technical discipline, And 7 years' experience in a technical field; Or

• High School Diploma/GED And 9 years' experience in a technical field; Or

• Prior military service for at least one enlistment as documented on DD Form 214, (And) 8 years' experience in a technical field. Or

• High School Diploma/GED And 3 Direct Plant experience at the same Power Plant with 1 of those years being Control Room Operator experience and approval of plant Management.

• A certificate of completion from a vocational trade institution in a technical field is equivalent to 1 year of technical experience.

• Experience must include 5 years' experience in a power plant or other process-controlled environment including oil/gas/chemical refining and/or processing or manufacturing, And

• 2 years' experience as a qualified control room operator in a power plant.
