Kennedy/Jenks Consultants is seeking a Lead Construction Manager for on-site management of water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Walnut Creek, CA. The role involves overseeing project compliance, managing teams, ensuring safety and budget adherence, and maintaining client relationships. Candidates should have 10+ years of relevant experience and strong communication skills. This position requires full-time on-site presence, Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM.

Kennedy Jenks is seeking an experienced Lead Construction Manager to oversee and manage significant water and wastewater infrastructure projects. In this critical role, you will ensure compliance with all project plans and specifications, manage change orders, and supervise project-related teams while maintaining a focus on safety and budget adherence.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead daily team operations and serve as the primary point of contact for clients, designers, contractors, and inspectors.
• Conduct regular field office meetings to resolve project-related matters effectively.
• Facilitate fair resolutions of project challenges with an emphasis on collaboration.
• Ensure alignment with accepted plans, budget, and timelines.
• Coordinate with sub-consultants and oversee project documentation.
• Monitor contractor work and manage all correspondence and documentation, including RFIs, change orders, and progress payments.
• Generate and distribute project status reports monthly.
• Promote safety measures and mentor team members on best practices.
• Maintain an updated client agreement and track all amendments.
• Oversee project accounting tasks, including timesheet approval and monthly billing.
• Establish strong client relationships through consistent communication.
• Attend public meetings to represent the owner when necessary.
• Mentor junior staff and ensure quality assurance through review and feedback.
• Exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication skills to facilitate clear project communication.
• Manage on-site staff and coordinate staffing needs with the project team.
• Promote staff development through training opportunities within KJ and external resources.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience managing all phases of construction projects in the water, wastewater, and stormwater industry.
• A degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience may substitute.
• Professional Engineer (PE) designation is favorable but not mandatory.
• Certifications such as CCM or PMP are advantageous.
• Proficient in project management software like Procore, SharePoint, and Unifier is a plus.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Familiarity with construction materials, methods, tools, and contracts related to water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Knowledge of building codes, construction technical requirements, and project delivery methodologies.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with project stakeholders.
This position requires full-time on-site presence Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, in a construction environment with limited amenities.
Salary Range: The expected salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $180,000, with variations based on education, experience, qualifications, certifications, seniority, and familiarity with water and wastewater facilities.
