The CLC represents traditional landowners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people in the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres. The CLC provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights. Qualifications Applicants must have relevant qualifications and demonstrate that they meet essential criteria in order to be considered. An applicant selected under this affirmative action plan will be required to provide evidence of their eligibility prior to commencement, such as: completed statutory declaration form, or supporting statement from an appropriate Aboriginal organisation THE ROLE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT LAWYER/PARALEGAL - LE019 - ALICE SPRINGS CL 6 $83,728.00 progressing to SO C $115,905.00 dependant on experience The Legal Section of the CLC provides legal representation and advice to traditional Aboriginal owners and Native Title holders in relation to a variety of legal matters under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 and the exercise of Native Title rights and matters arising from the Native Title Act 1993. In general, the work of the section by professional staff is organised on a regional basis and lawyers undertake necessary legal tasks within the region they are assigned. This position primarily works with the Community Development Unit across each of the CLC regions in the preparation of appropriate Agency Agreements with project delivery organisations for community development projects and works with and supports the regional lawyers on specific matters as required.
