Growing City is hiring Late Night Outdoor Events Recycling Staff for on-call positions in Vancouver, BC. The role involves onsite work during events from April to September, focusing on recycling and waste management. We are currently seeking several Summer Outdoor Events Recycling Staff to join our diverse, supportive, and close-knit team of Growing City-zens. This position requires individuals available for onsite work late at night most weekends from April to the last week of September, and occasional mid-week events. We host events throughout the year!

This position pays $18 per hour. Expect anywhere from 20 to 30+ hours per month in this role.

Responsibilities include:
• Ensure all recycling and waste management services are completed during the event (e.g., emptying all waste bins on schedule, maintaining clean and orderly grounds, separating recyclables like cans and bottles from the waste stream).
• Follow instructions provided by the supervisor to meet event service needs.
• Act as Growing City representatives on event days by completing client requests as instructed by the supervisor.
• Adhere to venue policies and procedures regarding health and safety, material diversion, and customer service.
• Complete event equipment setup, ensuring all bins and equipment are placed in designated areas, well-maintained, stocked, and properly returned after each event.
• Assist with event zero waste targets by properly separating materials by stream and tracking data as required.
• Provide feedback on event services and opportunities for team improvement in performance, sustainability, and planning.

Position Requirements:

The minimum requirements for this position are:
• Must be available to work late at night.
• Some experience working in the live events industry.
• Must be able to work an event-based schedule, including weekends, late nights, extended hours, and extended event weeks.
• Good decision-making skills with the ability to react well to high-pressure situations and tight timelines.
• A valid BC Driver’s license or equivalent, or the ability to get yourself to and from events on time.
• Physical strength (you may be required to lift heavy items, such as boxes of recycling bags or bags of material, up to 50 lbs).
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).
• Eligibility to work in Canada (we may sponsor permanent residencies for the right candidate).
• Comfortable with drug testing and must pass a criminal background check.
• Willingness to work in outdoor conditions, in all weather, and in crowded environments with loud music, bright lights, fireworks, and fun.
• Ability to stand and walk for 8+ hours.
