About the position

The City of Fresno is seeking dedicated individuals to join the Water Division of the Department of Public Utilities as Landscape Water Conservation Specialists (LWCS). These limited positions are grant-funded and are essential for fulfilling the objectives outlined in the Urban Community Drought Relief (UCDR) grant. The roles will focus on promoting water conservation through effective landscape management and irrigation practices. The grant funding will support these positions until December 31, 2026, and the selected candidates will play a pivotal role in enhancing the community's approach to water-efficient landscaping. As a Landscape Water Conservation Specialist, you will be responsible for providing consultations to residents and businesses regarding the implementation of drip irrigation systems and the selection of water-efficient landscape plants. Your expertise will guide clients in designing sustainable landscapes that conserve water while maintaining aesthetic appeal. Additionally, you will manage follow-up appointments to ensure that participants' information is current and compliant, facilitating the necessary payment processes associated with the grant. Responsibilities
• Provide consultations on water-efficient irrigation systems and landscape design.

Requirements
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, horticulture, plant pathology, or a closely related field.

• Two (2) years of experience in water-efficient irrigation systems and landscape design, including planting and maintenance activities.

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required at the time of appointment.
