About the position

Planning Resources Inc., an urban planning and landscape architecture firm located in suburban Lombard, Illinois, is on the lookout for a Landscape Architect with 8 to 10 years of experience to join our dynamic and collaborative team. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in providing design and documentation leadership for various Landscape Architectural projects primarily focused in the Chicago metropolitan area. Our portfolio encompasses a diverse range of projects including parks and recreation facilities, comprehensive open space master planning, urban design, institutional planning, community planning, and streetscapes. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in planning, site design, landscape design, and construction document development. They should be capable of delivering technical expertise across a variety of public and private landscape architectural projects. This role requires a collaborative spirit, as the Landscape Architect will work closely with clients and project teams to ensure that design visions are effectively translated into actionable plans. The position also involves mentoring junior staff, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders involved in the projects.

Responsibilities
• Collaborates with clients on projects including parks and recreation facilities, regional trails, urban plazas, streetscapes, and urban design.

• Leads the Construction Documentation and Detailing (including grading) using CAD.

• Conducts design exercises and prepares finished design presentation graphics.
,
• Prepares landscape plans, site plans, hardscape details, construction drawings, site analysis, and presentation graphics.
,
• Coordinates the preparation of project drawings, exhibits, and details with other engineers, architects, designers, and technicians.
,
• Provides training and mentoring to junior Landscape Architect staff.
,
• Presents project plans or designs to clients or stakeholders.
,
• Communicates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others as appropriate to the project.
,
• Seeks appropriate guidance in resolving various project-related issues.
,
• Manages time effectively, organizes, and works on multiple projects simultaneously to meet project deadlines and client needs.
,
• Visits project sites to review conditions as appropriate.
,
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Landscape Architecture or a comparable field from an accredited university.
,
• Licensed Landscape Architect with experience preparing schematic design, design development, and construction documents for various site development projects.
,
• Experience with preparation of hardscape and landscape plans for site plan approval and construction documents.
,
• Technical knowledge of architectural construction including codes and development regulations.
,
• Working knowledge of landscape and native plants in the Midwest region.
,
• Working knowledge of typical computer software programs used for landscape design (AutoCAD, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Sketchup, etc.).

• Strong organizational skills.
