WATG is hiring a Land Planner for our office in Dallas, Texas.

ROLE

The Planner collaborates with other planners, architects, and project team members to design, coordinate, and present ideas for various resort, residential, mixed-use, and urban planning and design projects. The position supports the team in completing the different phases of a project and creates programs and plans for land use and development.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conducts project research and analysis, and completes assignments using research, analysis, and critical thinking
• Coordinates the production and delivery of planning activities for several complex projects, including research and design development on all phases of the project
• Completes project activities, documents, products, presentations, and deliverables
• Assures the efficient preparation of detailed drawings through concept design and design development phases of assigned projects
• Produces working drawings, design sketches, diagrams, schedules, and other computer-generated or hand-drawn documents
• Creates design sketches and planning layouts, and completes presentations and report packages
• Directs and provides guidance to less experienced members of the team in the production of design concepts and oversees their production
• Delivers assignments in the various phases of the project in line with WATG quality and design standards
• Builds knowledge of resort and residential community planning, landscape architecture, and architecture
• Participates in team meetings to align the project deliverables to the design intent
• Coordinates the delivery and quality of their work and the work of others
• Collaborates effectively with internal and external clients while guiding less experienced team members
• Collaborates effectively with team members to develop ideas into working concepts
• Works with regulatory agencies and applies municipal land use and zoning codes to the projects
• Understands site design and grading
• Skilled with site planning and grading

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in planning, urban design/planning, architecture, or landscape architecture
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in planning, urban design/planning, or resort planning
• Experienced in preparing design guidelines
• Experienced in working with municipal land use and zoning codes and communicating with regulatory agencies
• Skilled with site planning and grading preferred
• Working toward a professional registration, such as AICP
• Environmental accreditation preferred
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp
• Knowledge of Rhino and Revit, and any programming language is beneficial
• Basic database knowledge and experience in GIS geodatabases, Microsoft Access, or SQL
• Basic Knowledge and experience with Midjourney and any latest AI tools
• Knowledge of sustainability analysis software preferred
• Strong freehand illustration, digital graphics, rendering skills, and visualization
• Experience with developing concept plans at different scales
• Effective communication skills in verbal presentation, written narrative, and graphic representation
• Ability to manage multiple project priorities and meet deadlines and budgets consistently
• Works effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
