Position Overview

ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a Temporary General Labourer to be based out of our Terrace, B.C. location. This position is coverage for medical leave (3 months). The job holder will be responsible for analyzing, sorting, cutting, and packaging non-ferrous metals for storage in the warehouse and for transport out of the yard.

Responsibilities
• Receives metals from customer and assist in unloading if required
• Assesses and weigh various types and grades of non-ferrous metals
• Maximizes mix loads of scrap from customers by sorting, high-grading and segregating accordingly
• Dismantles scrap materials and remove high value metals from them
• Ensures property, facilities, and equipment remain in good order
• Communicates with customers and ensure they receive professional service
• Cuts larger too thick pieces of metal into smaller marketable pieces

Qualifications
• Must be mechanically inclined
• Knowledgeable about general safety practices
• Able to communicate professionally
• Willing to work in an outdoor environment (rain or shine)
• Ability to use a forklift or skid steer is an asset
• Experience with sorting and allocating non-ferrous metals, preferably in a busy, high volume scrap yard is considered an asset
