Job Description
SAIT is seeking a Laboratory Technician I for its Applied Research and Innovation Services department in Calgary, AB. The role involves creating instructional videos and graphical assets to support sustainable development projects. Ideal candidates should have skills in graphic and video production, proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Premiere Pro, and strong organizational abilities. A diploma or degree in a relevant field is required, along with some experience in video production.
SAIT's Applied Research and Innovation Services department helps partners conceptualize, prototype and deliver products to market. ARIS is on the leading edge of novel technology development. As one of Canada's top applied-research colleges, SAIT has 50,000 square feet of specialized research labs, facilities, and full-time research staff who are solely dedicated to providing the services organizations need to take their products from concept to prototype.
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists to join the ARIS GBTAC team in the role of Graphic and Video Production Assistant. Reporting to the Green Building Technologies Operations Lead, this position will work closely with the Principal Investigators of Building and Material Science to create instructional and case study videos and graphical assets to support ongoing project work. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, adaptable, resourceful, and interested in sustainable development with a keen eye for visual storytelling. Valuable traits include proficiency in graphic and video production and editing, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and fluency with Adobe Illustrator and Premiere Pro graphical and video editing software. Past industry experience with graphic and video production, editing, and project coordination is advantageous.
The Role
• Graphic and Video Production and Editing
• Apply hands on experience and expertise towards meeting industry project deliverables.
• Outline illustration concepts to portray needed technical information.
• Create digital illustrations to convey technical concepts
• Conduct site visits to capture video footage.
• Plan and storyboard instructional videos in collaboration with project team.
• Record videos at the GBTAC lab using GBTAC recording equipment.
• Record videos at locations around Alberta using GBTAC recording equipment.
• Edit and produce raw footage to create finished videos for curriculum.
• Collaborate with the whole project team, contributing to the entire project lifecycle
• Organize and maintain schedules and see that assigned deadlines are met
• Report progress updates verbally and in written form to management, as needed
• Complete any necessary administrative tasks such as time tracking
• Demonstrate commitment to client's needs and confidentiality
• Project Support and Coordination
• Assist in planning and coordinating graphic and video production schedules
• Collaborate with the project team to ensure project execution and completion
Qualifications
• Diploma and/or degree from a recognized university or technical institute in a relevant field
• Recent graduate
• 0-1 year of experience in video production, editing, or a related field
• Film and Video Production education is preferred
