The Tech One Program (TOP) is a well-structured career development initiative designed for entry-level wind technicians. It is a joint effort between industry leaders Sky Climber Renewables and Vestas Americas.

Position Overview

TOP Wind Service Technicians undergo specialized safety and technical training accredited by the Global Wind Organization (GWO). Technicians primarily work at a local wind site, collaborating with a service team to ensure the safe and efficient maintenance of wind turbines.

Reporting directly to the Program Manager and Site Manager, and indirectly to the Lead Technician during assignments, your main responsibilities will include:
• Performing preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbine generator equipment effectively and safely.
• Repairing machinery and components specifically used in power generation applications like turbines and generators.

Note: You must work under the supervision of a certified Electrical Technician to perform activities inside any cabinet/controller. Additional duties might be assigned to support customer requirements and aid Sky Climber's mission and values.

This is a full-time paid position, with training provided upon hire, including:
• Basic Safety Training (such as First Aid, CPR, Fall Protection)
• Tower Safety Training (including high-angle and wind tower rescue)
• Technical Training (covering mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
• Legal authorization to work in the United States (Sky Climber does not offer sponsorships)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check
• Able to pass a background check and drug screening
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending English
• Successful completion of a climb preview before hiring

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
• Associate's degree in a technical or mechanical field, or equivalent experience in wind energy
• Background in mechanical or electrical systems
• Ability to read and interpret basic diagrams and wiring schematics

Physical Requirements
• Capable of climbing a wind tower over 300 ft multiple times a day and working comfortably at height
• Able to walk across the hub and, in emergencies, rappel off
• Comfortable working in confined spaces
• Frequent climbing, walking, standing, and bending
• Able and willing to handle weights up to 50 lbs
• Your combined weight with required PPE and gear must not exceed 300 lbs (PPE and gear may weigh up to 40 lbs)
