The Land Conservancy of New Jersey offers internships for students passionate about environmental stewardship. Since 2000, over 150 interns have gained hands-on experience across various programs. Internships are paid and flexible based on academic schedules. The organization also honors a former trustee with the Richard M. Sargent, Jr. Internship Award for an outstanding intern each year. Interns work under skilled staff supervision in Jersey City, NJ.
Internships

Established in 2000, The Land Conservancy of New Jersey’s Internship Program has been essential in fulfilling our mission to educate the next generation of environmental leaders.

Since the beginning, we have worked with more than 150 interns from colleges and universities throughout the United States. They have come to us from a wide variety of majors and areas of study, but they all bring a passion for the outdoors and a commitment to land preservation and stewardship. Interns have worked in all of our program areas and gain practical experience through hands-on work, assisting in current projects, under the supervision of our skilled staff members. We host paid interns throughout the year, and the length of time they spend with The Land Conservancy is dependent upon their academic schedule and the needs of our office.

In 2005, The Land Conservancy lost a beloved friend and former Trustee, Richard M. “Dick” Sargent. After his passing, his family and friends approached The Land Conservancy to establish a program in his memory to honor his conservation legacy. In 2007, we created The Richard M. Sargent, Jr. Internship Award which is presented to one outstanding intern each year.
