Job Description
Chugach Electric Association is seeking an intern for its Energy Resources division to assist with strategic planning, analysis, and project development related to remote industrial electrification, new generation technologies, and commercial energy ventures. Responsibilities include evaluating electrification opportunities, supporting research on renewable technologies, and developing planning materials. Candidates should be enrolled in an undergraduate program and have basic project management and analytical skills.
Job Description
Summary
This position will provide assistance to the Energy Resources division by supporting strategic planning, analysis, and project development. The internship includes work on remote industrial
electrification opportunities, new generation technologies, and commercial energy ventures. Additionally, the position may also provide some support to cross-functional efforts involving
regulatory and business strategy.
Essential Functions
A. Assist in identifying and evaluating remote industrial electrification opportunities and associated infrastructure needs.
B. Support research and concept development for emerging generation technologies, including renewable and carbon capture.
C. Perform literature reviews on technology trends, deployment strategies, and case studies from comparable utilities or regions.
D. Assist in developing planning materials and supporting stakeholder engagement related to commercial energy initiatives.
E. Other duties as assigned.
Relationships
Internal
• Manager, Natural Gas and Energy Resources: Reports to, receives direction and guidance from
• Manager, Power Pool and System Studies Analyst: receives direction and guidance from
External
• Occasional interaction with external individuals or entities.
Competencies
1. Must have a basic understanding of project management.
2. Current knowledge of computer software and data management.
3. Knowledge of analytical research and composition.
4. Must possess the ability to meet deadlines and communicate effectively.
5. Must possess the ability to work as part of a team with effective organizational skills and a strong work ethic.
6. Effective written and verbal communication skills are desirable.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
Most of the work will be performed in a standard office environment but a portion of the work could be in the field in varying weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Education
Completion of Junior-level course work in an accredited undergraduate degree program, required.
Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program, required.
Experience
Six (6) months’ previous work experience (any field), required.
