Job Description:

Join our dynamic team as a Sustainable Design Intern! This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Ryan Companies, where creativity and collaboration are at the forefront of our innovative design approach.

As a Sustainable Design Intern, you will work closely with our Sustainability Team to explore various facets of building analysis and ideation. This is an ideal position for a forward-thinking student enrolled in a design program focused on Architecture or Interior Design, eager to learn and contribute.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the Sustainability Director, Sustainability Design Manager, and project teams to undertake the following tasks:
• Prepare models and conduct initial sustainability analyses on design options using Climate Studio.
• Perform site assessments and research local codes and climate conditions to recommend design solutions.
• Create visually engaging reports that communicate technical findings and project narratives to teams and clients.
• Engage in design charrettes focused on achieving sustainability and design excellence.
• Assist in generating diagrams and compiling documentation for external reporting and green certification programs like LEED.
• Proactively solve problems and address technical challenges.
• Support the Sustainability Director in research and the development of educational content for internal training sessions.
• Engage in design, consultancy, and project team meetings.
• Conduct tasks collaboratively, maintaining a high standard of teamwork.
• Organize and maintain project files, including scanning, copying, printing, and transmitting original working drawings.
• Demonstrate eagerness to learn through active listening and questioning fellow team members and mentors.
• Set and pursue annual goals for personal, professional, and organizational growth within the industry.
• Contribute positively to Ryan's culture by engaging in office activities and initiatives.
• Participate in Ryan's annual review and goal-setting processes, aligned with personal and professional development goals.
• Actively support Ryan Companies' and Ryan A+E's 5-year vision and 1-year business plans and objectives.

Job Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in a design program focusing on Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, or Civil Engineering.
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree or a Technical degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
• Relevant professional or educational experience is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills are a must.
• Submission of a design and research portfolio showcasing your design process and solutions is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team.
• Proficient in Revit, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Familiarity with software programs like Climate Studio, Ladybug/Honeybee, OneClick LCA, Enscape, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite is advantageous.
• A willingness to learn about various aspects of the design process, including Conceptual Design, Client Presentations, Building Codes, Documentation, Construction Administration, and Constructability.
