Job Description
The Center for Strategic and International Studies is seeking an intern for its Energy Security and Climate Change Program for Fall 2024. The role involves providing research support on energy security, monitoring related policies, and assisting with administrative tasks. The position is in-person at CSIS headquarters in the United States, requiring a commitment of 35 hours a week.

The CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program plays a crucial role in enhancing energy security, tackling global climate change, and alleviating energy poverty and environmental injustice. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality public education, strategic insights, and policy solutions by analyzing issues at the intersection of geopolitics, policy, markets, and technology. Our program collaborates with leaders from government, industry, academia, and civil society to develop events and projects that assist decision-makers in crafting effective energy policies that balance economic, environmental, and security priorities. We are currently seeking an intern who will provide research support for individual scholars and projects related to energy security, markets, transition, and geopolitics. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in the energy and climate change sectors, although specific experience or knowledge in these fields is not required. Candidates are encouraged to express their interest in these areas in their cover letter. The position is hourly, with pay rates based on educational qualifications: $17.50/hour for current undergraduate hires, $18.50/hour for those with a bachelor's degree, and $19.50/hour for master's degree holders.
Responsibilities
• Provide research support for individual scholars and projects related to energy security, markets, transition, and geopolitics.

• Monitor economic, energy, and climate-related policies.
,
• Provide logistical support to the Program staff for administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling, event staffing, and routine office work.

• Attend events and lectures, by CSIS and external organizations, to write de-brief summaries.
Requirements
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.

• Must be at least a college junior in good standing, an advanced student, or a recent graduate.
,
• Ability to commit 35 hours a week preferred.
,
• Ability to work in-person at CSIS headquarters.
,
• Excellent research skills required.
,
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Good judgment and ability to complete projects independently and with a team.

• Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

• Strong computer skills.

• Experience with data collection and management preferred.

Benefits
• Hourly pay commensurate with experience: $17.50/hour for current undergraduate hires, $18.50/hour for hires with a bachelor's degree, and $19.50/hour for hires with a master's degree.
