Interior Designer - Hospitality - Senior

Gensler is seeking a Senior Interior Designer for Hospitality in Nashville, TN. The role involves designing engaging hospitality spaces, from conceptual design to construction administration. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, NCIDQ/RID certification, and over 10 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in design software and strong communication skills are essential. Responsibilities include project management, client relationship development, and mentoring team members.
Your Role

As a Gensler Interior Designer, you are passionate about your craft and combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. You have conceptual and technical delivery/documentation design skills for interior architecture and interior design projects, and you have a portfolio showcasing your innovative designs. A focus for the role will be designing Hospitality spaces.

You are an integral member of the design team who itches to contribute a point of view and craves participation in all phases of our projects from conceptual thought process and design exploration through construction administration. What You Will Do
• Visioning and programming for interior design projects, space planning, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, shop drawing reviews, code compliance, and construction administration
• Participate in the selection and documentation of furniture, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and decorative lighting
• Generate finish plans, RCPs, lighting plans, specifications, material selections, and millwork drawings and details
• Provide design support and documentation during project execution
• Coordinate with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators
• Integrate new technology and tools on projects (AR, VR, computational design, etc.)
• Support design presentations and develop effective client relationships as trusted advisor
• Support marketing and business development efforts as needed
• Guide and mentor teammates
• Manage change orders, VE selections and re-selections, and the procurement process through installation and project close
• QA/QC specifications and construction document sets
• Strive to elevate design quality on every project, and foster and cultivate a culture of design in the office

Your Qualifications
• NCIDQ/RID Certification required
• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
• 10+ years of Hospitality interior design experience
• Proficient with Revit, SketchUp, 3D Studio Max and other modeling software programs
• Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
• Extensive knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications for Hospitality projects
• Extensive knowledge of interior construction documents for hospitality projects
• Advanced experience with construction administration for hospitality projects
• Procurement oversight for hospitality projects
• Advanced knowledge of applicable codes and safety considerations
• Project management and team leadership/mentorship experience
• Strong storytelling ability, both verbal and written, that conveys purpose and impact
• Strong graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
• Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices; Ideally portfolios will include at least one project (especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification) with this particular focus
