About the position
The Infrastructure Resilience Engineer will lead the development of climate adaptation and hazard mitigation strategies for waterfront and infrastructure projects, supporting a national portfolio of clients across various sectors. This role involves working within multi-disciplinary teams to quantify design loads from climate stressors and develop effective design strategies, including nature-based and hybrid solutions. The position offers significant growth potential in project management and technical leadership within Dewberry's Resilience Solutions Group, which is recognized for its innovative approach to climate resilience engineering.
Responsibilities
• Provide technical support to resilience engineering and planning efforts related to transportation, water, energy, and community facility infrastructure.

• Support risk and vulnerability analyses of infrastructure considering multiple hazards and climate change impacts.
,
• Characterize hazard loads, assess operational risks, identify mitigation strategies, and align strategies to funding sources for clients.
,
• Apply climate science to inform resilient planning and design processes, including design manuals and standards.
,
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance technical skills and programmatic knowledge.
,
• Work with geospatial and computational science colleagues to develop technology that increases efficiency and innovation.
,
• Develop project deliverables including technical analyses, reports, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
,
• Communicate complex technical topics effectively using various communication techniques.
,
• Prepare engineering plans, studies, reports, and other technical documents.
,
• Apply social equity and environmental justice principles to technical work.
,
• Represent Dewberry in meetings with clients and stakeholders to resolve complex issues and coordinate work.
,
• Assist Project Managers in developing technical and business proposals for new projects.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field.

• 5-8 years of relevant experience.
,
• P.E. License required.
,
• Experience with engineering feasibility, design, implementation, and monitoring.
,
• Strong advocacy for climate resilience with persuasive verbal and written skills.
,
• Ability to foster a collaborative, people-centered environment and build productive relationships.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in teams.
,
• Well-developed time management skills to meet tight deadlines.

• Ability to perform a variety of tasks assigned by senior staff to broaden experience.

• Knowledge of design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation) and geospatial platforms (ESRI, QGIS).
