The Industrial Section Engineering Intern (Administrative Intern 2) position at the Department of Ecology in Lacey, Washington, offers a unique opportunity to engage with environmental regulations and compliance for large industrial facilities. This internship is part of the Solid Waste Management (SWM) program, which aims to protect, preserve, and enhance the environment for current and future generations. As an intern, you will work closely with Industrial Section engineers and other staff members to ensure that these facilities adhere to existing environmental regulations. Your role will involve assisting with data analysis, reviewing reports, conducting compliance inspections, and performing various tasks that contribute to the overall mission of the agency. Throughout your internship, you will gain valuable insights into environmental regulations that govern large industrial facilities, as well as the processes involved in wastewater treatment, air pollution control, and hazardous waste management. The Industrial Section serves as a regulatory one-stop-shop for these facilities, allowing you to interact with multiple programs within the Department of Ecology, including Water Quality, Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction, and Toxics Cleanup. This position is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in environmental compliance and regulatory work, preparing you for a future career in this field. The internship is set to conclude on June 30, 2025, and offers a flexible hybrid work schedule, allowing for up to 40% telework. This flexibility not only reduces commuting time but also contributes to a smaller carbon footprint. Responsibilities
• Assist Industrial Section engineers with data analysis and report review.

Requirements
• Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program or recent graduate in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
