The Idaho Conservation Corps is hiring three Forestry Technicians for Visitor Use Monitoring at Idaho Panhandle National Forests. The role involves conducting public surveys at various locations from May to September 2024. About the position

The Idaho Panhandle National Forests is actively seeking three 680 Hour Forestry Technicians for Visitor Use Monitoring, AmeriCorps Members. This position is set to begin in May and will last through early September 2024. The primary responsibility of the incumbent will be to conduct surveys of the recreating public at various monitoring stations located along the Coeur d' Alene River, Sandpoint, Priest Lake, and Bonners Ferry Ranger districts. The role will involve making contacts with the public in the field, which will require the individual to be comfortable using mobile devices and engaging with visitors. The work schedule for this position is designed to be flexible, typically consisting of either four ten-hour days or five eight-hour days per week, primarily from Friday through Monday. The surveys will take up a significant portion of the work, with the incumbent expected to conduct surveys for six hours each day, including a 30-minute lunch break, along with necessary drive time to reach survey locations. While most of the surveys will be conducted independently, there may be occasions where the individual will work alongside another team member. It is important to note that there may be a few days, accounting for less than 10% of the total workdays, when no surveys are scheduled. During these instances, the individual may be asked to assist with trail or recreation crews for the day, providing a diverse range of experiences within the forestry sector.
