Job Description

Ecojustice is seeking an Associate Director of Philanthropy (Major Gifts) in Vancouver, BC, responsible for managing major donor relationships and leading a fundraising team. This hybrid role involves developing strategies for donor engagement and revenue growth, overseeing grant writing, and promoting inclusive fundraising practices. About The Role

As the Associate Director of Philanthropy (Major Gifts), you will oversee a portfolio of major donors and foundations while managing a team of fundraising professionals across Canada. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, you will develop and implement strategies to increase revenue, optimize donor engagement, and promote inclusive fundraising practices. You will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to enhance donor stewardship and strengthen Ecojustice's philanthropic impact.

Key priorities for this role include:
• Leading the Leadership Giving & Foundations team, including providing mentorship and strategic direction to fundraising professionals
• Managing and growing a portfolio of major donors and foundations, ensuring thoughtful donor stewardship and successful solicitation of gifts
• Developing and implementing fundraising strategies to increase leadership giving revenue and diversify foundation support
• Overseeing grant writing and ensuring high-quality donor communications and impact reporting
• Collaborating with internal teams and engaging volunteers, including board members, to expand Ecojustice's fundraising capacity

Typically, we find that people who succeed in this role bring:
• 5+ years of experience in fundraising, with 3+ years managing a major donor portfolio (gifts of $100,000+)
• Experience leading teams, including mentoring, training, recruiting, and managing
• Strong relationship-building skills and a passion for donor stewardship
• Excellent communication skills, including grant writing and proposal development
• A commitment to inclusive philanthropy and advancing reconciliation in fundraising practices
