Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Carlsbad Basin Water Master. In this role, you will oversee water resources in the Carlsbad Basin, ensuring compliance with New Mexico statutes, court adjudications, and state engineer regulations. Your expertise in NM water rights issues and surface and groundwater basins will be invaluable to our team.

Responsibilities
• Review and analyze water right applications.
• Conduct investigations and compile water rights documentation.
• Measure groundwater and surface water levels.
• Provide customer assistance to the public.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Hydrology, Geology, Environmental Science).
• Two years of relevant experience or any combination of education and experience totaling six years.
• Able to communicate clearly with water rights owners and represent the agency at meetings and public events.

Working Conditions
This role requires extensive computer and telephone usage in an office setting. Fieldwork involves rough terrain, heat, cold, humidity, and wind. A valid driver's license and Defensive Driving Course Certificate are required.
