Job Description

About the position

The Hydrologist 1 position at the State of Minnesota involves collecting, managing, and analyzing statewide surface and groundwater data to support science-based water resource management decision-making. This role is critical in ensuring sound data is available for water resources management, planning, and problem-solving, contributing to the well-being and quality of life for all Minnesotans.

Responsibilities
• Lead the operation and maintenance of DNR EWR's stream, lake, and groundwater data collection programs.
,
• Assist in the entry, organization, and maintenance of surface water and groundwater data.
,
• Assist with the processing, review, and archival of surface water and groundwater data.
,
• Perform other assigned tasks to deliver priority technical support services professionally.

Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field such as Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or Water Resources Management.

• Technical knowledge of hydrology, hydrogeology, and hydraulics.
,
• Experience with groundwater monitoring and data collection.
,
• Ability to operate larger vehicle/trailer combinations and work with common tools.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience installing and maintaining hydrologic monitoring equipment.
,
• Experience using Acoustic Doppler and standard stream flow monitoring equipment.
,
• Experience in utilizing the WISKI database for hydrologic data workup.
,
• Experience in computer modeling and GIS.
