About the position

The Department of Natural Resource and Conservation is seeking a Hydrologist specializing in groundwater to support the Water Resources Division. This new position involves analyzing aquifer testing data and conducting technical groundwater analyses related to water right administration. Responsibilities
• Analyze aquifer testing data and complete technical groundwater analyses associated with water right administration.

• Participate in hydrologic investigations and programming/coding/GIS projects.
,
• Contribute to policy development related to groundwater management.

Requirements
• Master's degree in Hydrology, Earth Science, Geology, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or Water Resources.
,
• Minimum of two years of progressively responsible job-related experience in hydrology.

Nice-to-haves
• Expertise in hydrology, hydrogeology, geology, geomorphology, integrated remote sensing, geospatial analysis, and/or surface/groundwater modeling.

• Experience with groundwater modeling and coding programs such as AQTESOLV, MODFLOW, and Python.
,
• Knowledge of Montana water right laws and processes.
,
• Experience with hydrologic field methodologies and appropriate instrumentation for water measurement.

• Knowledge of methods for conducting hydrologic investigations and developing hydrologic models.
,
• Familiarity with GIS software (ArcGIS) and spatial data analysis.
