Hydraulics & Water Resources Engineer

SgurrEnergy is hiring a Hydraulics & Water Resources Engineer in Pune, India. Responsibilities include hydrological and flood modeling, watershed analysis, data interpretation using GIS, client coordination, report preparation, and field data collection. The role requires proficiency in software like HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, QGIS, and Civil 3D, along with a B.Tech and M.Tech in relevant fields and around 2 years of experience. This is a full-time position.
The principle responsibilities essentially includes -

• Conduct hydrological modeling and flood modeling using software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, QGIS and other relevant softwares

• Perform watershed analysis and flood risk assessment

• Analyze historical rainfall data to estimate discharge for key return periods using statistical distribution analysis.

• Analyze and interpret data from remote sensing and GIS applications

• Review of Topography as well as hydrology reports

• Provide technical support on hydrological and flood inundation modeling

• Coordinate and discuss with clients on model development, data collection, and project updates

• Prepare detailed reports, technical documentation, and presentations for clients, showcasing project outcomes, findings, and recommendations.

• Conduct field visits for hydrological data collection

• Basic understanding on storm water drainage design

• Review hydrological analysis and flood risk assessment report

• Perform and asses the drone topography survey at site along with pilot’s coordination

• Basic Understanding of soil properties and geotechnical investigation assessment and evaluation

Software Skills Desired:

• Hydraulic Modelling - HEC-RAS (1D and 2D Modelling), TUFLOW, FLO 2D, SWMM

• Hydrological Modelling - HEC-HMS, ArcSWAT, QSWAT

• GIS Tool - Q-GIS, ArcGIS, GRASS, Google Earth, Global Mapper

• Design Software – AutoCAD, Civil 3D

• Other tools – Microsoft office Suits (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, One Note)

• Programming Language – Python, C++

Desirable Skills:

• Working knowledge of Civil 3D software for levelling, grading, drainage design,

• Proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and calculations.

• Familiarity with Indian and American codes and standards for civil engineering projects.

• Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings, specifications, and reports.

• Experience in conducting site visits, collecting data, and performing engineering calculations.

• Knowledge of quantity take-offs, cost estimating, and material specifications.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing engineering plans and reports.

• Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and contractors.

• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work independently or as part of a team.

Candidate Specification:

• Education: B. tech in Civil and M. Tech in Water resource/ Environment Engineering.

• Experience: Around 2 years of experience in environment engineering, including relevant experience in equivalent software’s.

• Skills: Working knowledge of HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, QGIS, Civil 3D software and MS Excel, familiarity with Indian and American codes, and proficiency in technical calculations and data analysis.

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and contractors.

• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, work independently or as part of a team, and continuously improve technical skills.
