Horticulture specialist

Catch Foundation is seeking a Horticulture Specialist in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The role involves overseeing urban forest development, soil health, plant care, pest management, and project supervision using innovative horticultural practices. Candidates should have a relevant degree and at least two years of experience in horticulture or related fields. Strong communication and team management skills are essential for executing afforestation projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Urban Forest Development: Oversee the design, planting, and maintenance of urban dense forests using the Miyawaki method and other afforestation techniques.
• Soil Health & Preparation: Conduct soil analysis, recommend appropriate amendments, and ensure optimal soil conditions for plant growth.
• Plant Selection & Care: Identify and manage a diverse range of native species, ensuring healthy growth and long-term sustainability.
• Pest and Disease Management: Monitor plant health, implement eco-friendly pest control measures, and prevent disease outbreaks.
• Research & Innovation: Stay updated with the latest horticultural practices, introduce innovative planting methods, and enhance biodiversity within project sites.
• Project Supervision: Lead on-ground teams, coordinate with volunteers, and ensure the smooth execution of afforestation projects.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in horticulture, forestry, or ecological restoration projects.
• Strong knowledge of native plant species, soil science, and sustainable cultivation practices.
• Ability to manage field teams, coordinate with stakeholders, and execute large-scale plantation projects.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work in diverse environments.
