Cummins Inc. is seeking a Health, Safety and Environmental Technician - Level II in Plainfield, IN. The role involves identifying gaps in HSE initiatives, promoting a safety culture, ensuring confidentiality, reporting hazards, guiding incident processes, and supporting corrective actions. DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Health, Safety and Environmental Technician – Level II to join our team specializing in Health, Safety, and the Environment for our Cummins Inc. facility in Plainfield, IN
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Identify and Address Gaps : You'll determine gaps within corporate HSE initiatives and local policies, ensuring compliance and improvement.
Promote HSE Culture : By building an understanding of HSE culture, you'll integrate it into daily processes, fostering a safer work environment.
Ensure Confidentiality : Maintaining confidentiality and proper recordkeeping will protect sensitive information and comply with data protection standards.
Immediate Hazard Reporting : You'll stop work and report any major injury hazards immediately, preventing potential incidents.
Incident Reporting and Guidance : Acting as an HSE resource, you'll guide the site on reporting processes and support incident investigations and risk assessments.
Support Corrective Actions : You'll assist in the implementation and closure of corrective and preventive actions, enhancing overall safety.
Effective Communication : By communicating effectively, you'll create HSE awareness and support environmental management activities.
Participate in Inspections and Audits : Your active participation in HSE inspections, audits, and incident investigations will help identify trends and improve safety measures.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
College, University or equivalent degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, or Sustainability preferred.
Experience:
Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Responsibilities:
Assist Bi-weekly Safety Committee meetings
Attend First Responder Team meetings
Lead Safety Training for new hire orientation
Compile and enter HSE related data
Assist with maintaining ISO 14001 and 45001 Certifications
Assist team members with Safety Improvement Ideas
Assist team members and workplace committees with creative approaches to improving safety
Assist with Incident Investigations - conduct interview process, take pictures, and obtain any other necessary paperwork
Data Entry and Maintain Enablon
Coordinate with department managers, facilitators and team leads to plan, schedule and complete
training sessions as required.
Learn, operate, and train others to operate all equipment used in the facility, including all types of powered industrial trucks and RF equipment
Conduct general and clerical office task to support operation
Assist in operational projects
May perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Ability to work independently as well as with a team
High School Diploma/GED
First Aid, AED, CPR Certified (completion required within 1 year)
Working knowledge of Microsoft programs, such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Certification (completion required within 1 month) Preferred
OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Certification (completion required within 6 months) Preferred
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
Problem solving and reasoning ability
Excellent oral, interpersonal and communication skills
Environmental conditions may include noise, vibration, and atmospheric conditions.
Flexible schedule
The Plainfield facility has the right to deem a person qualified for a position if that person has had one or more years of experience in the position or similar position.
